A feeder apparatus for transferring particulate material and water from a sump outlet to the inlet of a pump is formed in the sump by making a well at the outlet of the sump and placing an impeller in the well. A partition is formed separating the inlet to the feeder from its outlet, the partition having a height equal to or exceeding that of the water level in the sump. The outlet from the sump is connected to a channel which has a continually decreasing cross-sectional area, the terminus of which is connected to the inlet of the pump. In the known thickener, there is no regulation of the sludge density, insufficient thickening is carried out and poor conditions for the removal of sludge take place. The thickener consists of a housing 1 with a bottom 2, a lifting pump 3 with a suction pipe 4, vertical. a partition 5, separating from the housing a chamber 6 for collecting and removing sludge, in which the lifting pump 3 is located. In the bottom 2, a mixing chamber 7 is made under the vertical partition 5, connected to the suction pipe 4 of the pump 3. A mixing device 8 is placed in the mixing chamber 7, made in the form of curved blades 9, mounted on a vertical shaft 10. In the mixing chamber 7, the output end of the aeration pipe 11 is installed. The thickener works as follows. The crushed material enters the housing 1 together with water in the form of a suspension. The crushed material tends to settle and fall out on the bottom 2, where it accumulates on the inclined planes 12 and moves to the chamber 7. The engine 13 rotates the shaft 10 through the coupling 14. The blades 9, rotating, move the crushed material and water inside the chamber 7 and feed to nozzle 4 of the pump 3 * A nozzle 11 is supplied aerating liquid or gas. The sludge in the fluidized state is sucked off by the pump 3 and through the pipe 15 is discharged from the thickener.

Claims (3) [1] Claim 1.
